Pt Reyes

Pt Reyes by David HainesFog takes hold at the Pt Reyes lighthouse in northern California.

During our visit in September 2010, a ranger said we’d best get on our bikes because thick fog rolls in at 4:00 every afternoon. At 3:30, in bright sun and howling winds, we didn’t believe him. This photo was snapped at 4:14.

Later we learned Pt Reyes is one of the foggiest, windiest places in the US. If you bike there, start early.
